mass effect was a superb game imo (graphical niggles aside). Only problem with it for me was it was far too short. But thats something i'd level at a lot of games this year - this generation seems to be riddled with games that are somewhat easier than i remember - Halo 3, Assassins Creed, Mass Effect, Ratchet & Clank, CoD4 - all great games, but all games i finished far too quickly.
Anyone else agree things seem to be getting easier nowadays?
that update to the text shouldnt be allowed. Its blatant flame-bait. Fine the ps3 can store the divx while the 360 cant - according to the standards on this site, news is supposed to be reported impartially - that is clearly not.
If "xbots" as you call them are so pathetic as to try and claim the 360 is more capable than the ps3, ignore them, dont start turning news postings into another excuse for some childish fanboy flame-war.
The internet is full of idiots that like to smack-talk. Its a fact of life. Fact is, if you're playing in an environment where everyone has voice comms, you're tonnes more likely to hear morons talking crap. I ONLY use my headset when playing with people i know personally away from gaming - the rest of the time i play without the damn thing, and turn other peoples speech off, and my experience on live is a generally pleasant one.
To be honest, to pick out live as the target of ...
anyone that bashes you for that comment is an idiot. Lets face it, one persons game of the year is another persons object of hate (for instance, how many people foam at the mouth with hatred at the mention of halo, yet how many people love it?).
You're entitled to your opinion - if that flies in the face of what some review or other says, does it really matter that much?
sorry, but perhaps you need to see through your deranged fanboy haze and look at the article - they picked one title per platform (ps3, wii,pc and 360), and Lair was definately the biggest flop of the year on the ps3, just like shadowrun sucked on the 360. If you can name a different, more dissappointing ps3 game, fine. Otherwise try and think before posting from now on!
I'm quite sick of hearing fanboy rants that dont even give any thought to the article in question. It only m...
ok - perhaps i was a little harsh on HS, but it just felt like they were desperate to make a next gen version of god of war with different clothing.
The combat was good enough, but even though it made a big deal of "rewarding" you for stylish play, you could get 3/4 of the rewards by just button bashing. If they had perhaps made the combat more like ninja gaiden, where timing was rewarded so much, it would have been much more rewarding.
I didnt much li...
Cant agree more with shadowrun - massive dissappointment - publishers have to learn that multiplayer only games cant sell for full price. Look at warhawk - reduced price on psn, and people are lapping it up!
I dont think, if anyone is honest, anyone could have picked anything other than LAIR for the ps3 - lets face it, of the few exclusive games that have been released this year, there arent that many really bad ones, are there? LAIR on the other hand, is pretty dismal. Perhaps...
DOMINOS PIZZA!
Oh...sorry....
when was the last decent star trek game anyway? I dont remember hearing of a half decent one since Star Trek:Armada...
i've only really played burnout legends on my psp and i really enjoyed it - hope this is going to be good, but i do fear for the whole "free-roaming" idea - sometimes games need a bit of direction to keep them fun - if this game isnt done right it could be a lot of travelling between competitions/events, which would suck.
the dreamcast was superb - i'll never forget the first day i played soul calibur, and the first time i got a vx220 out on the streets of london in MSR, not to mention how great phantasy star online was...
Sega are more of a publisher now anyway. Their first party stuff isnt really cutting it as things stand (sonic games have been poor recently for instance) and there arent many companies that can handle the huge losses you'd have to take to get in the industry now (m$ and sony ...
i can tell from your username you're somewhat biased, but anyway...
The ai, from what i've read, is built on the same tech thats used in Assasins creed (at least, the crowd system) - they look very similar in that respect.
I'm a HUGE fan of splinter cell, but i cant really see why they'd make it a 360 exclusive - doesnt really make sense unless m$ have thrown huge sums of cash in ubisofts direction, and even then i can only see it being a timed exclusive...
is splinter cell conviction a 360 exclusive? i'd be very surprised if it was...
They just cant help themselves to be honest. there are a few damned annoying 360 fanboys on this site, no doubt, but thats nothing compared to the number of ignorant moron ps3 owners who spend hours searching for places to troll. (And i have both consoles before anyone starts saying i'm an xbot, which i might add is one of the WORST insults i have ever come across in my life, and i am really happy with my ps3, as i am with my 360)
Fanboys (both xbox and ps3) need to get a damn ...
the wierd thing is that HD-DVD is actually (at least as far as the current specs go) the more technically capable product. Picture-in-picture functionality, all players internet ready, live content feeds from the internet...Blu ray is only just getting those things - its amazing how little the HD-DVD supporters have tried to show these things off. Blu-ray has just relied on its market penetration due to the ps3, and picture quality comparisons thus far....
I get the feeling there is a certain parrallel here with what M$ did when they named the 360. They realised that despite the fact it was essentially the xbox 2, naming it "2" gave it a clear link to the previous generation (namely the playstation 2). Perhaps it would be fair to say that people see HD-DVD as having very close connections to the percieved previous generation in that technology also (namely the DVD)..
Bubble for you!!!
Brilliant post. Why cant everyone be like that huh? Both consoles have great games (the 360 more right at this second, the ps3 more potential next year) and the more great games that come out for each, the better.
I, like you, have my doubts about Killzone 2, only because i saw the dissappointment in the original on the ps2 - but we can only keep our fingers crossed and hope gorilla delivers something great!
basherdog - to be fai...
i've got pes 2008 on my 360, and fifa on my ps3, and pes is still a better game - i like what EA have done with fifa - its less of a stupid arcade game nowadays, but it just lacks something that PES has had for years - difficult to put your finger on, but PES still seems more real to me.
That being said PES 2008 is still horribly flawed. Who cant get a bit of licensed music nowadays? And lawrenson as a commentator? AGGGHHH!!! Plus, someone has to explain to Seabass that goalkee...
i've got a ps3 and an xbox, prefer my xbox (at the moment at least) and i for one hope that killzone 2 is absolutely awesome - but you cant say whether its a good game yet.
However, i'd also say to people dont get carried away. Hype ruins games more than most things these days - you get your expectations sky-high, and when a game doesnt meet them, its all the more dissappointing. I felt that with the original killzone. Screenshots show you something about the game, but not the ...
i might - not sure really - i'm not a big online FPS fan, but i've played my fair share of halo 3 (not a spartan officer yet which shows how little i play it though).
Personally i'm hoping for a playlist change to allow 16 player big-team-battles in ranked matches (unless i'm being an idiot and they are there already).
